Promotional Texaco Cast Iron Scottie Paperweight Rare full-figure, solid Antique sitting Scottie with head tilted. cast iron Paperweight. A promotional piece put out by Texaco, titled Listen. In 1929 Texaco commissioned noted dog and animal artist Morgan Dennis to draw a dog picture to use in advertising. His drawing of a pair of black Scotty dogs, heads cocked, was entitled “Listen”. Texaco ran many ads and some service stations promotions used these Listen Scotties. The Scotties were supposed to be listening in vain for any extraneous engine sounds after adding Texaco’s crack-proof motor oil to the car’s crankcase. Their main slogan was “Get Ready Today for Tomorrow! Drain Summer Oil, Fill with Winter Texaco then Listen”. Extremely difficult to find this Scotty Paperweight. Weighs 2 lbs. 6 oz. Attributed to the National Sewing Machine Co. of Belvidere, IL. Ca. 1929-30’s. Excellent condition with original paint. 3 3/4” tall x 4 5/8” Long x 2 5/8” wide.
