Lesser Scaup Duck Cast Iron Sink Box Decoy |
Lesser Scaup Duck Cast Iron Sink Box Hunting Decoy.
Wonderful full-figure solid casting of a Lesser Scaup Duck cast iron Sink Box Decoy.
A sink box is a specialized hunting blind, resembling a raft, used by hunters and suspended from a floating platform. It is placed in calm water so the hunter may wait with the waterline at approximately shoulder height. Sink box decoys were set all around the sink box to weight it down in the water. Wood carved decoys were floated around the sink box to further disguise the hunters. This method of hunting was outlawed in 1918 by Migratory Bird Act. Just don’t find this form or a Lesser Scaup.
Makes a solid doorstop or a decorative sculpture.
Weighs 30 lbs. 10 oz. RARE and DESIRABLE!!
