Initially filled with candy, this cleverly designed candy container, once emptied, would serve as a child's penny bank. Happy Jack, by Thornton Burgess, is a classic nature story about a mischievous squirrel and one of the most popular and beloved animal stories ever. Delightful and charming graphics showing Happy Jack gathering Hickory Nuts with his other forest friends and showing an owl as the "Receiving Teller" for "Security Storage and Trust for Squirrels & Chipmunks". Note the running bee with a net! Marked on top- "If you Get and Spend a Penny. Then of Course You Haven't Any. Be Like Me - A Happy Jack And Put It Where You'll Get It Back." Circa 1920's Excellent condition. 2 7/8” tall x 4 ¼” long.

World War I Savings Stamps Celluloid Bank
WWI Antique “DuPont War Savings Stamps” Celluloid Pocket Dime Still Bank. Front side advertising, “Wear Challenge DuPont Cleanable Collars and Save Laundry Dollars”; Drop Your Weekly Laundry Quarters In Here – When bank is full, break open and you will have enough for a WAR SAVINGS STAMP”; Teach Your Child Thrift – Buy War Savings Stamps”. Signed, “The Whitehead & Hoag Co., Newark, N.J.” Pleasing colors of blue and red on cream background. What is so interesting about this bank it is only celluloid on the front side with back made of tin. Also, you had to break this bank open to retrieve your money, making this a very rare bank to have survived. Circa 1914. Excellent condition. Lighter marks from camera flash. 2 ½” diameter x ½” thick.

Back signed, “Dimes Are Young Dollars They Grow Quickly When Kept Together; 3% Compounded On Savings Semi-Annually; Systematic Savings Is A Key To Success, This Dime Bank Cheerfully opened as Often as you Bring it In”. Signed and made by, “Parisian Novelty Co., Chicago, Pat. Apld. For”. Done in pleasing colors of green with yellow lettering on cream background. Circa 1917. Excellent condition. 2 ½” diameter x ½” thick.

Place a coin in the eagle’s beak, press lever and the eagle leans forward spreading her wings while feeding the eaglets as coin drops in slot. Scarce khaki grass variation. Made by J & E Stevens Company, Cromwell, CT. Marked on base “PAT. Jan. 23, 1883”. Excellent condition with original paint. 6” tall x 8 ¼” long x 4” wide.
